I will try to update this review after a few months as well (6 month update at the end). Pros: 1. Beautiful design and light weight. This is part of the ASUS seashell design family, with beautiful curves and design details. The netbook surfaces are textured to minimize fingerprint smudges. For that reason, I think white looks much better than black since the texturing shows more on the black and makes it look more grey or brown than an elegant black. The white looks very elegant. The netbook weighs very little (about the weight of a textbook). 2. Performance and features. It's a lot faster than I was expecting, and multitasks quite well (granted, the worst I have been subjecting it to has been installing many programs, streaming videos, and some video processing). There are times when you can notice a definite slower response than a laptop but those instances have been few so far... For the money it does what we want it to. We have talked to family and friends using Skype. For being such a compact unit it does very well. The battery seems to last 3-4 hours and could be better. All in all it is a good value for the money. 53 of 59 people found the following review helpful:  expected a little bit more, By MacGeezer (Cleveland, OH USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: ASUS Eee PC 1001PX-EU17-WT 10.1-Inch Netbook (White) (Personal Computers) I've had a Asus netbook model #1005HAB-RRED004S for about six months, like many people I purchased it for a vacation and if you don't expect too much that's exactly what you'll get ... to be fair the display is good, the keyboard is surprisingly spacious for this size computer, with a different OS than the crippleware Windows 7 Starter I probably would have a much better opinion ... after adding memory to the maximum 2gb (which appears to seriously affect the useable battery time) and changing to the Ubuntu Linux Remix OS I have an acceptable very small, easily carried and attractive computer (you can even hold it under your arm to use two hands in the lunch line), just don't expect to do much more than email, basic word processing, a little internet surfing and photo storage (which is all a lot of people need), and you'll be happy (I think my grandson's going to walk off with mine any day now) |
